February is right around the corner, and Columbia has many exciting events planned for the month.
Columbia Opportunity Resource (COR) is sponsoring another Keep The Midlands Beautiful service day on Feb. 4 from 8:30 a.m to 10:30 a.m. COR’s mission includes ensuring a sustainable future for the Columbia community, and this volunteer opportunity gives locals a chance to help keep our city beautiful and vibrant. Operation Bedroll, a project hosted by the Columbia Art Center to make plastic bags into bedrolls for the homeless, is takes place Feb. 5, from 3 p.m to 5 p.m. Bring scissors and plastic bags. This event is being held at 1928 Calhoun St. in Columbia. You can RSVP here on Facebook.

Table For Six: Midlands Mayors is another event sponsored by COR in February. This event will take place Feb. 1, from 5:30 p.m to 7:30 p.m. Table for Six is a networking event that connects experienced executives with emerging leaders in the community. Hosted by the multiple mayors of the Midlands, Table For Six will offer a space to freely chat over dinner, ask questions and build relationships. Tickets range from $20 to $30 and can be purchased here.
February’s First Thursday on Main will be held on Feb. 2nd from 6 p.m to 10 p.m. The event will take place on Main Street, from the 1200 block to the 1700 block. First Thursday on Main occurs on the first Thursday of each month, where businesses in downtown Columbia stay open late in order to offer a mix of specials, events and entertainment. CIty Center Partnership’s Yellow Shirts will offer complimentary shuttle services along Main Street and to and from the Vista until 11 p.m. Learn more about this event here.
Comedian Katt Williams will be stopping in Columbia to perform on his Great America Tour at the Colonial Life Arena on Feb. 12. Tickets are still available. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
The Koger Center will present Broadway in Columbia – Riverdance, on Feb. 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. Riverdance is an international Irish dance phenomenon that is back on tour for their 20th anniversary. Tickets range from $50 to $60 and can be purchased here via the Koger Center.
Soda City Market takes place each Saturday, rain or shine, from 9 a.m to 1 p.m on Main street. Soda City Market has a large variety of farmer’s stands, food trucks and local vendors to choose from, making it easy to support the local Columbia economy and to support small business. The Mid-Carolina Camellia Society Flower Show will take place Feb. 11. It is free and open to the public from 1 p.m to 5 p.m. The Mid-Carolina Camellia Society is a group dedicated to inspiring, promoting and developing interest in the Camellia plants throughout the midlands, and this show is one of the South’s largest and most prestigious Camellia events. Locals are encouraged to participate by entering their flowers, and more information can be found here.
