The actress had long been ill with cancer
Olivia Newton-John is dead. The Australian actress and singer, born in England, had 30 years and had long been suffering from breast cancer, which she had been diagnosed with in the early years’ 90. The death of the actress, unforgettable protagonist of the film Grease with John Travolta in 1978, was announced by her husband John Esterling with a post on Facebook. Olivia Newton-John passed away this morning on her ranch in Southern California, surrounded by family and friends.

“Olivia was the symbol of triumphs and hope for beyond 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer, “he wrote Esterling. The actress had created the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund engaged in the research sector. The family asks that any gifts be replaced by donations to the foundation.
In the 2017 the actress had announced that the disease, first diagnosed in 1992, had recurred and had spread to the spine. On that occasion, she revealed that she had already received – without disclosing it – a similar diagnosis in 2013. Five years ago, the star urged Australia to adopt laws similar to those in California to allow the medical use of marijuana.
