The Italian Film Festival (IFF 2022) returns to Singapore and this year – from 14 to 25 September – celebrates its twentieth edition. It is presented by the Italian Embassy in Singapore, which for the occasion wanted the participation – in presence – of the Manetti Bros. (Marco and Antonio Manetti), with their “Diabolik” as the opening film.

“Italian cinema – declared Ambassador Mario Vattani – is rapidly evolving, and with the Italian Film Festival this year we wanted to tell it like this. It will be a very wide selection of the latest successes of Italian cinema. We will open with the Manetti Bros. who will come to Singapore. Thirteen films, for almost two weeks the Singapore audience will be able to enjoy the best of our cinema with action, noir, drama, comedy, and we also wanted horror “.

In fact, the Singapore Festival will count on a selection of excellence – of the most famous Italian masters, from Giuseppe Tornatore to Sergio Castellitto, Mario Martone, Paolo Genovese, Dario Argento, and then Jonas Carpignano and Giuseppe Bonito, with the opening of 03 September reserved at the Manetti Bros. For more than a week, the Singapore public will therefore have the opportunity to see the best Italian films that have successfully participated in Venice, Rome, Cannes, Berlin and other major international festivals. “Thanks to the growing curiosity of Singaporeans for Italian cinema”, explained Vattani, “this year’s Italian Film Festival is also a tribute to the efforts of the new generations of directors and producers, which is why we wanted them here with us, also to find new opportunities in a very rich market “.

Gabriele Costa and Gianni Russo will also be present in Singapore , the producers – with their Piano B – of the highly acclaimed documentary “Ennio” by Giuseppe Tornatore. The screenings of “Diabolik” and “Ennio” will be followed by meetings with the public, moderated by the President of the Singapore Film Society, Kenneth Tan. And then there will be the meetings in the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Film School, the School of Film & Media Studies, and the Puttnam School of Film and Animation (in the Faculty of Fine Arts, Media and Creative Industries of Lasalle) with many representatives of the local cinema.

Presented by the Embassy of Italy in Singapore, in collaboration with The Projector, with the Singapore Film Society and the Asian Film Festival in Rome, the Italian Film Festival in Singapore has Triumph Singapore as its main sponsor, which recently opened its headquarters in the City-State to further expand its presence in Southeast Asia. Campari will also be the technical sponsor, who at that time will organize the International Negroni Week to celebrate the iconic cocktail, and will propose a refined selection of signature cocktails to match the screenings.
