The first episode of “Cavalli di Battaglia” is back on Rai 1. The show, staged by the prestigious Teatro Verdi in Montecatini Terme, which in 2017 sanctioned the return to television of Gigi Proietti in 2017. The experience of the war and in particular that of the front will lay the foundations for the drafting of “Farewell to arms”, one of the greatest masterpieces of the writer entirely inspired by his experience, first in Schio and then in Fossalta di Piave. The second period refers, instead, to 1948 when Hemingway, now famous, returns to Veneto to savor this time the good Venetian life, of the valleys of Caorle and the mountains of Cortina, and cultivate his passion for hunting and fishing. Also in this case the experience in Veneto will inspire another work, “Beyond the river, among the trees” from which emerges a more tired Hemingway who begins to take stock of his life. The film features actors such as Anita Kravos (interpreter of the film “The Great Beauty”, awarded at the Oscars 2014), Giorgio Careccia, Stefano Scandaletti, Maximiliano Hernando Bruno, Eleonora Bolla. To “The worlds of yesterday”, broadcast tomorrow at 21. 10 on Rai Storia, Edoardo Camurri talks about it with the writer Dacia Maraini, one of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s closest friends, and with Professor Raffaele Torella, indologist and emeritus teacher of language and literature Sanskrit at the La Sapienza University of Rome. It is a documentary that collects investigative reportages and visual suggestions for a film that will never be shot. The themes are those dear to Pasolini’s gaze and sensitivity: the spirituality and hunger of a developing country, with its contradictory thrusts towards industrialization and progress and an ancient heart of evolving traditions.
