“This year’s slogan of ‘DirectCatch’ is ‘inside the complexity of the world'”. Word of Riccardo Iacona, who in an interview with Adnkronos reveals the contents of the new season of the Rai3 program which kicks off on 29 next August in prime time on Rai3, every Monday for eight episodes. The formula does not change and is that of investigations and reports focused on the hot topics of current affairs, to understand what the consequences of the war in Ukraine will be. With a special episode, that of Monday 26 September, to comment and try to understand the election results after the vote of the policies of the 15 September.

“It is an episode that we still have to write and imagine – explains Iacona – but we are happy to be there that day to take stock of the issues that the winners of the elections will have to face, but also to understand the electoral flows of the center-right and center-left, by whom the popular classes feel represented, if there will be transfers from one party to another and what will be the future of the Third pole “. In the meantime, ‘Direct Presa’ will lead its viewers towards election day with three episodes dedicated to the most important themes of the election campaign, from the wheat war to gas prices, to energy choices to free us from the dependence on Russian gas.

“In the first three episodes we work on the consequences of the increase in raw materials caused by the war in Ukraine and on the response to this crisis”, explains Iacona, underlining that “the main concern is that the autumn will ‘give us’ a crazy blow due to the increase in gas. Will we manage with the Italian minimum wages to hold it up? EU and possible financial speculations. In the study in the first episode, entitled ‘War and hunger’, there will be Maurizio Martina, deputy director general of FAO and former Minister of Agriculture (in the Renzi and Gentiloni governments, since 2014 to the 2018, ed) “.

In the second episode ‘I signori del gas’, “that is, those who toast the rise in the price of gas – observes the journalist – we will see which players are entering this market that is crushing Europe, first the Americans who sell their gas to the whole world at the price set by the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, speculating on increases. We will also try to understand how it works and what the new agreement with Algeria entails and we will travel through Italian companies to understand the consequences they are paying with this increase in the price of gas “.

In the third episode “we put nuclear power on one side and renewables on the other. We were the first Italian crew to enter the uranium mine in Kazakhstan, where most countries source their supplies for their nuclear power plants . There too – explains Iacona – there is a great turnover and a new geopolitical game is being played on uranium as well. what are the great potential of renewable energies “. After the elections, ‘PresaDiretta’ will also address the issue of the PNRR and the Eastern part of the world.

“We want to get inside Putin’s propaganda machine against the West and realize how these countries, which previously looked to us, they see us now, what they teach their children about the West in schools. In short, to understand what world they are building, because – he concludes – to understand what is happening one must know and understand the reasons of others “.
