WoW: Now comes the Nerf club! Massive simplifications for Karazhan

by Philipp Sattler After the WoW developers tried for three weeks to make small adjustments to the level of difficulty of Karazhan to the other Mythic Plus To adapt dungeons, they now get out the nerf club and give the instance a whole series of very drastic nerfs.

With the start of Season 4, WoW welcomed some old dungeons into the Mythic Plus system. Including the two parts of Karazhan that we have already visited in Legion. The two parts of the mega-dungeon were already very popular back then and many players still like to visit the tower in the Deadwind Pass.

However, Karazhan has a problem. Compared to the six other dungeons of the current season of WoW: Shadowlands, the upper and especially the lower return to Karazhan is far too difficult. This is also reflected in the numbers of completed Mythic Plus Keystones. Hardly a day went by in the last three weeks when the Blizzard developers didn’t try to get the difficulty levels of the dungeons on the same line with minor adjustments – with little success. Now the devs seem to have had enough and unpack the fattest nerf club a dungeon has ever had to feel.

Massive nerfs for Karazhan

Especially the lower return to Karazhan is the focus of the developers. Not only will bosses and mobs be massively weakened, some enemies will even be completely removed from the dungeon or their abilities will be taken away. And that after some smaller nerfs came the day before.

Here are the full patch notes for the recent Karazhan nerfs.

Dungeons and Raids

  • Mythic+
  • Return to Karazhan: Lower
  • Developers’ note: We wanted to give players time to re-learn mechanics in returning dungeons before making large nerfs, however, Lower Karazhan continues to stand out as an outlier in difficulty so we are making larger changes to bring it in line with the difficulty of the other dungeons in Season 4.

  • Do you think these nerfs mean that Lower Karazhan is no longer by far the least popular Mythic Plus dungeon in Season 4 of WoW (buy now ): Shadowlands? Or are the nerfs perhaps too much of a good thing and the formerly hardest dungeon suddenly becomes the easiest instance?
